There are many ways for Canadians, their communities and organizations to sponsor refugees and help them settle into their new life in the country. These sponsorship programs help refugees find housing, provide financial, social and emotional support, and give them food and clothing as they settle and adjust to life in the country.
Groups of Five is an organization that helps refugees settle in Canada by sponsoring them through private sponsorships. Sponsors must be at least 18 years old, and can only sponsor refugees who already hold refugee status. Private sponsors collaborate with the government to sponsor UNRWA( United Nations Refugee Agency)-identified refugees.
Corporations and organizations may also help refugees by becoming a Sponsor Agreement Holder, a Community Partner for applicants who already have Refugee Status in Canada, or through the Joint Assistance Sponsorship program, where organizations partner with government to sponsor refugees with special need.
