Requirements for Child Sponsorship
Parents wishing to sponsor their child need to meet certain criteria in order for the child’s application to be approved.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or citizen of another country living in Canada.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Not be in prison for committing a crime, charged with a serious offence, or be bankrupt.
Parents will also need to provide proof of their relationship with the child, whether it’s through birth or adoption certificates. For parents who are in the final stages of an adoption process and want to adopt a child, they can sponsor the adopted child before their adoption has been finalized.
